Rev. Amber Nicole Scott is the Senior Pastor of Waters Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, having been appointed to the pastorate in June 2025. Her ministry is marked by a commitment to faith, community impact, civic engagement, social justice, and sports, reflecting a dynamic approach to service and leadership.

Born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised in Robbinsville, New Jersey, Rev. Scott is the daughter of Tommie and Sharon Scott and the sister of Chad and Chelsea Scott.

 

Rev. Scott earned a Master of Divinity from Duke University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in May 2021. While at Duke Divinity School, she completed certificates in Faith-Based
Organizing, Advocacy, and Social Transformation and Black Church Studies. She previously served on Duke Divinity School's National Alumni Council.

Ordained in the New Jersey Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Scott was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in April 2024 and an Itinerant Elder in April 2025.

In addition to her pastoral leadership, Rev. Scott serves as the Women in Ministry Liaison for the Historic Philadelphia Presiding Elder District and collaborates with the faith-rooted public policy organization Salvation and Social Justice.

Rev. Scott is also a proud graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Urban Studies. During her time at Penn, she was a four-year varsity member of the Women's Track and Field team and was initiated into the Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
